From 19 – 21 September 2018, the EU-ABC organised a highly successful Mission Trip to Thailand to meet with various Government boards and ministries. The delegation consisted of 45 people from 21 European companies. Those that attended included representatives from Bosch, Daimler, DHL, HSBC, GSK, JTI, Mercedes-Benz, Michelin, NXP Semiconductors, Pernod Ricard, Prudential, PwC, SAP, and SWIFT.
The meetings addressed pertinent issues faced by European businesses in the current regulatory and business environment, the development of the trade and investment relationship between the EU and Thailand, as well as trade and customs facilitation within ASEAN as a region, especially with Thailand taking over the Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2019.
The delegation had meetings with the following ministries:
- Bank of Thailand
- Board of Investments
- Customs Department
- Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives
- Ministry of Commerce
- Ministry of Finance
- Ministry of Industry
- Ministry of Public Health
- Ministry of Trade
- Ministry of Transport
- Office of the Prime Minister
The delegation met with Thailand’s Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, to discuss ways to advance ASEAN when Thailand takes over the Chairmanship as well as development of the trade and investment relationship between EU and Thailand moving forward.
