Two of the key goals for ASEAN stated in the 2025 AEC Blueprint include developing the digital economy and enhancing ICT connectivity in the region – as also stated in the 2025 Masterplan for ASEAN Connectivity, the 2020 ICT Masterplan, and more recently, the EU-ASEAN Plan of Action which aims to “jointly explore ways to develop transparent, coherent, ICT regulatory framework as well as other ICT priorities as mutually agreed”.

With these two goals in mind, the EU-ABC Digital Advocacy Group focusses on issues such cross-border data flows, data governance rules and regulations, digital literacy, the ASEAN E-Commerce Agreement, and proposed future ASEAN Digital Economy Partnership Agreement.
