With ASEAN the world’s sixth largest automotive market, and regional sales likely to double in the near future, the Automotive industry is a key player in the economic development of the region. In that context, the European automotive industry with its long experience, significant regional investments and leading innovative technology, has a keen interest in the continuing growth of the sector in ASEAN.

The EU-ABC has established a Mobility Advocacy Group to look at a series of pan-ASEAN initiatives aimed at aligning the policies, rules and regulations affecting the industry in the region with accepted international norms, and ensuring a fair and equitable market across ASEAN for manufacturers and suppliers alike. Increasingly the main focus of this Group will be issues such as the development of new power train technology (EVs, Hydrogen), autonomous vehicles, and road safety issues.
