ASEAN in 2022: Economic Outlook & Drivers of Growth

ASEAN is beginning to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccination rates in some member states are well above the global average while the rest are ramping up efforts to inoculate citizens, enabling the region to experience a strong recovery. The strong desire to focus on sustainable growth and digitalisation, renewed promises to achieve economic integration, and the growing consumption power of the middle-class are positive signs for growth in ASEAN. However, while some forecasts are optimistic, others remain cautious, citing the capricious nature of the coronavirus and its variants as a significant source for worry alongside increasing geopolitical tensions. In this Webinar, we will discuss the economic, investment and political outlook for ASEAN for the year ahead, and ask:

  • ASEAN’s 2022 outlook is a mixed bag of reviews. What are the emerging economic trends that businesses should look out for in the region next year?

  • How would ASEAN’s attitude towards sustainability and climate change affect the region’s economic and investment outlook?

  • Does ASEAN’s economic and investment outlook make the region an attractive area for investments? If so, in which areas?

  • What growth levers should ASEAN prioritise moving forward?

  • How should ASEAN leverage its external relationships to help with recovery?
